I’m Daniel X. O’Neil, a poet, playwright, director, and performer based in Chicago. This site covers creative output as an active artist performing in Chicago and touring across the United States from 1988 to 2003.
During this time I wrote and published four books of poetry & essays. I wrote, directed, and performed in four plays and went on five poetry performance tours to 23 cities with three different musical accompaniment compositions. I launched the NecklacePoems line of jewelry and produced audio and poster products. I also wrote essays for and was interviewed in 4 issues of Emigre Magazine, writing about design, typography, and issues around ownership of work product.
Go to Derivative Works to see my art from 2003 to the present, where I focus on compilation art, including hypertext enjambment, a method I invented for adding new context and meaning to existing works.
See danielxoneil.com for documentation on my career in technology, where I’ve developed and applied concepts of compilation art in a commercial context.
Lastly: here’s some juvenalia.
