Upon Losing the Office Super Bowl Pool

It’s not the sting of pathos or beebite even—
nothing like putting a close relative
into an insane house or a halfway one for that matter but
losing has a life of its own.
And somewhere
there is a billboard tally of silly wins and losses
of this kind and someday it will
pay, some fleet-foot sasquatch will
run in and leave a nice package for me.
