Then all the people in the U.S. decided maybe they’d
had enough, that maybe the chips were down for the
creeps who held the mallets for so long.
So they formed columns of Autonomous Collaborators.
They seized buses and drove them into the main artery
intersections in the middle of their cities.
The Weight Watchers Battalion was in charge of overpowering a
strategic police station. Members of Cocaine Anonymous
secured the subway system. The Save The Whales
contingency, in league with the people who gave to the United
Way, controlled access to the highways in stolen State
Police cars and salt trucks.
Voting registrars, along with The Benevolent Order of Elks,
manned the fax machines while the people who fixed their cars
on Saturday mornings protected the commandeered T.V.
station.
The National Guard showed up. All of a sudden they
happened to look at each other in one long chain extending
across their town, and they all uttered in unison,
in some sort of mathematical simplicity once and for all:
“I am the X and you are the Y.”
